THE LATEST

Have you guys watched the newest Hanger Shortage episode? It's probably the most inspiring yet - a definite must watch for all you girlbosses out there.

I interviewed Lauryn Evarts of The Skinny Confidential in at her gorgeous San Diego home. She talks in detail about her mindset in getting to where she is today with her brand. There's so much to learn in this episode. Also make sure to enter the giveaway (scroll all the way to the bottom of Lauryn's episode page). We teamed up and are giving away a Skinny Confidential book, Bombshell body meal plan and fitness plan AND one of her cute phone cases. Score.

LA XMAS SHOPPING GUIDE

I don't love shopping at the mall. Every Christmas Gabe and I take an entire day and shop small in Los Angeles to get unique gifts for our family and friends. This year, as we were driving up the 110 freeway, we decided it'd be fun for us to film our shopping adventures and give a glimpse at how we do Christmas. Only the coolest places made the cut. Xmas or not, they're a must.

Here's the store list:

  • WITTMORE
  • HAMMER & SPEAR
  • POKETO
  • ARTBOOK
  • SALT & STRAW (BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO GET A LITTLE SUGAR HIGH)
  • ALCHEMY WORKS
  • HENNESSEY & INGALLS
  • AMERICANO FOR BRUNCH
  • STAMPD
  • AMERICAN RAG CIE
  • ROLLING GREENS
  • HEATH CERAMICS

Also, other places we frequent for a shopping adventure:

  • TINI (THIS IS NOT IKEA)
  • THE GENERAL STORE
  • SKYLIGHT BOOKSTORE
  • CHURRO BURRO
  • DEKOR
  • SHOPHOUSE KITCHEN
  • CB2

16thCOLONY - HOLIDAY 2016

Let's just say I'm beyond excited about the Holiday collection for my line 16thColony. There's seriously a piece for every occasion (I'll personally be wearing the Rosa Maxi with the high thigh slits for NYE). I mean, the holidays really are a great opportunity to dress up and look cute at all those parties and dinners. Take a peek at the new 16thColony Holiday collection and use code: freepostage for free shipping off your order. You're welcome ;)

ORLANDO

Scenes from Orlando - filming for Bridgestone tires with @0484gabe + the ColorBlind crew.

We were in Florida for a week filming. The mix of working and being with friends is so understated. I mean, it's hard sometimes, but no matter what, it's like being with family so it's always fun.

We actually ended up getting Taro Card Readings on this trip. Gabe, Robert and I were at TuTu Tango, a little artsy tapas restaurant and one of my fave spots, and as I went looking for the restroom I spotted Ashley the card reader and asked her if she would do a group reading. She doesn't but instead mentioned that she would do individual readings. So naturally, I very enthusiastically convinced Gabe and Robert to do it with me. She was SPOT. ON. I mean seriously incredible. It made for a really good night.

SEATTLE/VANCOUVER

A couple months ago I hit up the Pacific Northwest again. This was the first travel in a long time that has been strictly for play. Typically, all the the places I'm visiting have at least a little work element to it. Honestly, I'm just as happy traveling in either scenario. The difference in a getaway like this is, no set schedule. No place to be at a specific time. Even though I actually ended up writing out a timeline for this trip because there was so much to see and do in a matter of 4 days.

Anyway, here's a rundown of all things those things that were jammed packed into my itinerary.

Seattle:

-Space Needle: Kind of a must. Great views.

-Pink Door:  Just yes. Near the Public Market, this dinner was amazinggg.

-Juno: a nice, little brunch spot.

-Chihuly Garden: Beautiful. Awesome art - you can see the Space Needle out from the glass house. I loved it.

-Harbor Cruise: So worth it. I'm all about a good booze cruise. And the photos you can get from the bay are pretty great.

-Elliots: Super good seafood. If you're into that kind of thing. I actually had clam chowder for the first time in life here.

Vancouver:

First of all, the drive up to Vancouver was everything I had hoped for. Just absolutely serene and peaceful.

-Revolver Coffee: In a really cute neighborhood and super hipster, ya know? Definitely a 'yes' for me.

-Granville Island: Super great views of Vancouver and the water. There's a little public market along with candy and wine shops and art. We hit up the Granville Brewery.

-Granville Brewery: Get the beer flight.

-Gastown: Just walking around this area of town and popping into the shops was one of my favorite parts.

-Suspension Bridge: I actually came across this place on instagram while we were on our trip and made it a top priority. So glad i did, too. Who knew such an amazing rainforest lived just 20 minutes from Vancouver? The sights and bridges were just so cool.

NYC

A couple weeks ago I caught a red eye out to NYC. Gabe and I were heading out there to film for the luxury sunglass company, Barton Perreira. We went straight to the shoot as soon as we landed - seriously, I did my makeup in the taxi that morning.

Anyway, when life gives you lemons make lemonade. I'm not sure if that phrase is appropriate here because nothing about this situation is negative. What I'm trying to say is we got the opportunity to go out to NYC to film and decided to stay a few extra days for fun. Why not?

We ended up making this trip a little celebration for our 5 years together. Making art with your best friend the best feeling - we shot this short vid together and Gabe surprised me with the edit recently. I can genuinely say that I'm so grateful for everything in life and wake up everyday with that sentiment.

Here's the deal - a lot of food was consumed while on this trip. It's just way too tempting when there's amazing places all over. So I'll fill you in on where you need to go.

-Lexington Brass - this place was actually at the hotel I stayed at (48LEX). ended up here after the first day of shooting all day/night. Good food and even better drinks.

-Pax - super simple, easy little lunch spot. they're all over town. the one near bryant park has a create your own pasta station. that's right, this spot is not fancy but it's good and quick.

-Peter Luger - posted up in brooklyn and worth the trek. this restaurant has been the #1 steak house for years and years. you have to make a reservation - there are no walk in's. and you have to pay cash or debit - they don't take credit card. oh, and get the bacon - trust me.

-Baked by Melissa - you'll become addicted but that's fine. we went 3 times while in nyc and brought back 50 cupcakes for our friends. these are a must any and every time. and also very acceptable to have these delivered fresh to CA. that's how real the addiction is.

-Red Rooster - up in harlem and it's seriously so good. the vibe is great and the food amazing. everyone is talking about this place.

-Meatball Shop - spot on. when i went there the special was the 'mac n cheese ball'. it. was. amazing.

-Momofuku Plus and Monofuku Milkbar - together in the same building and it equals heaven. Okay, first of all Monofuku Plus has a limited menu and you can't go wrong. I got the chicken sandwich and cheese fries. soooo good. Then I got even fatter and went to the Milkbar and got Fruity Pebble ice cream with sprinkles and also some birthday truffles. words don't even begin to describe how happy these desserts made me.

Anyway, you can thank me later. These were just the places from this trip. Others are: Freidman's for brunch, Tao for dinner and Ace for drinks.

MEMPHIS.

Took a trip out to Memphis for a filming gig. Nothing like working with your friends. We all had an amazing time and definitely had some adventures mixed into the 'work' portion. Beale Street, Casino and the Tennessee River. Glad we made it back alive. JK.
