My dad is also super into photography and when he asked me if I’d go on a little photo adventure to Monument Valley it was an easy yes. We camped out but really we just spent the whole time shooting. We shot at sunrise, during the day and set our alarm for the middle of the night. It was an awesome father-daughter trip.
AUSTIN, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH
Started off 2019 with a quick trip to Austin. I love checking cities off my list. Also, sometimes I tend to dress the part of a city. I can’t help it. But the locals did like my boots so that’s a win.
Anyway, fave spots in Austin:
Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt - cute spot to stay and it was near all the things we wanted to do.
Better Half Coffee
June’s
Torchy’s Tacos
Terry Black’s BBQ - I’m here for the sides.
Gabe had some meetings in Dallas so we booked our return flights out of there and of course we stopped by Waco on the way. Magnolia Farms was cool but Magnolia Table was even better. Do both.
HAPPY 2019
Starting my cheat days off right - Palazzo Hotel, Las Vegas.
PLANET ICELAND
Iceland ended up being surprisingly amazing. Just driving around it felt like I was on a different planet and there is hardly anyone around. I had my fingers crossed to see the Northern Lights and we got so lucky. That was probably my favorite part but honestly the scenery, waterfalls, Blue Lagoon and the wild horses we came across were super close. I highly recommend making the trek to Iceland - it was unlike any other place I’ve been.
AMSTERDAM + NORWAY
Next on our ‘Tour’ was Amsterdam and after that Oslo. My parents happened to have a trip planned at the same time. My mom’s family is from Norway and it’s always been her dream to visit. So we decided this would be the perfect opportunity to surprise her and then join her and my dad for a couple days.
She was shocked and so happy - another really awesome highlight.
OSLO, NORWAY…
POSITANO, ITALY AKA PURE MAGIC
Stop #2 on our European Tour was Positano, Italy. I’ve been wanting to come to the Amalfi Coast for so long and when Gabe suggested this I was beyond excited. However, I didn’t know it was going to turn into the most magical trip of my life. We got engaged!!! I ended up calling it our ‘Engagement Moon’ the rest of our time there.
STOCKHOLM, YOU CUTE
I made the trek out to Stockholm solo to meet Gabe. Him and the crew were filming over there for Lexus. When we got the gig, we decided to make a whole European Tour out of it. First stop Stockholm - next up Positano, Italy.
But I really loved Stockholm - it’s so designed focused. Some of our fave spots were:
Fotografiska - awesome photo gallery
Boqueria - we ate here twice. So good.
Exploring Gamla Stan - I’m a sucker for cobblestone and cute alleyways.
Spotify Rooftop Bar
NEW CAR, WHO DIS?
Just kidding. I spent a week with the Colorblind crew filming for Ferrari up the coast from San Diego to Monterey. We worked 22 hours a day. The guys hung out of the back of our SUV filming/taking photos while I edited in the front seat (thank God for dramamine) during the day and then back in the hotel room in the middle of the night until it was time to go again for the next day.
I honestly don’t know any other company that works harder than our crew. We’re a team but more importantly, a family. And we work relentlessly together to make it all happen. I’m so tired but I’m so happy that this is life.
FILMING IN SF
Took another trip up to San Fran to film for one of my fave clients Crossroads Trading. They’re always a fun brand to shoot with and there’s always a little bit of extra time to head over to the Ferry Building for some food + shopping.
PS - have you seen the Stop Motion video we shot in our studio for them? Check it out below.
#SAMEDICE
We convinced all our friends to go to Vegas to celebrate Gabe’s 34th birthday and it was a blast. It’s the best to have all your favorite people in one place - especially when celebrating.
